Welcome back to Lodge my brothers! If you have been gone for a few weeks for vacation, or gone for years due to other commitments in your life, I welcome you back to Lodge this fall! You are cordially and personally invited to join us in Lodge or at any of our numerous social events. We miss you, we love you, and we want you to come spend an evening with your brothers – new and old.

As we move into fall, we have only 6 more stated meetings in 2023! But fear not, we have lots of extra activities going on to help you feel engaged! Make sure you check out the upcoming events calendar, but here are a few big items to highlight.

This month, we are holding our Festive Board in conjunction with the York Rite. Please see the attached flyer and get your tickets ASAP for the 21st of September!

Next month, we will be holding our 130th Anniversary Celebration, and since it is October and we are located in Germantown, we’re going to hold this as an Oktoberfest celebration on October 14th from 3-9pm for members, families, and friends.

Pentalpha Lodge 194 is also doing the good work of making masons, teaching catechisms, and perfecting our ritual. The officers spent the first half of the year doing our best to learn the roles we were assigned this year. Now that we are entering the fall, we are focused on preparing people for their next positions while still conferring degrees. It is amazing to see so many dedicated brothers give of their time to teach, to learn, and to fellowship! Our officers are learning the lectures, the grasshopper and middle chamber speeches, obligations, and more.

And along those lines, the Grand Lodge has informed us that the charges at each degree should now be presented from memory, so I need some help. For you brothers who don’t want to be an officer and don’t have the time to commit to years of going through the chairs, but do want to be involved in the degrees, here is your golden opportunity!! I’d like to find three (or more) brothers who will take on the lead for one charge and be an understudy for another. We probably confer each degree two to three times a year, making this a small time commitment for a very important and powerful part of our ritual.

I look forward to seeing you all in Lodge and at our events!

Brian Viehland
Worshipful Master
