Brethren –

this is October, and along with Spooky Season and Halloween decorations, Pentalpha Lodge is celebrating it 130th Anniversary with an Oktoberfest! Saturday, October 14th from 3pm to 8pm at the lodge we will have a fully catered German Smorgasbord of delicious foods, a cash bar to wet your whistle with a variety of beers, and lots of German music to set the mood. This will be a celebration of our lodge, so I don’t want you to come work it, I want you to come enjoy it! Bring your spouses, kids, grandkids, neighbors, coworkers and friends!

This is a great opportunity to share with our community that Pentalpha Lodge is here and tell them a little of what we do. Getting visitors to the lodge is a great step in raising awareness about freemasonry among potential candidates!

To make this event cover costs, we need at least 100 attendees. I’d like EVERY ONE of our 105 members to buy a ticket to support the event and the lodge. For those unable to attend, give the ticket to a friend or neighbor and sponsor their Oktoberfest! For the rest of you, I challenge you to tell at least 10 people and try to sell 4 tickets. This is an easy event to invite friends to – an Oktoberfest in Germantown full of food and music!

In addition to our Oktoberfest celebration, we have degree work in October and our candidates would be well served by your support and attendance. October 12th we hope to do multiple Fellowcraft Degrees and October 26th we are planning on an Entered Apprentice Degree. Bringing in new members and supporting them on their process through the degrees is important to their growth as masons.

Finally for this issue, I’d like to recognize the hard work and dedication of some members specifically. Ken Grundy has pulled off multiple successful blood drives. Marin Goranov has spearheaded a shed construction project. Allen Proctor, Adam Buffington, and Hank Griffin PM, have each dedicated time to prepare and present masonic education at lodge meetings. JR and AP have fed us at meetings. CS has kept our ritual club on track. JR, KG and AP have worked new members to teach catechisms continuously. There are so many more, and I thank all of you for your commitment to the lodge and the fraternity. You ARE the lodge and your hard work is helping our lodge grow and shine!
