Happy New Year Brethren!
A new year often brings new resolutions and goals. I’ve recently learned that setting goals can lead to a lot of pressure and may set you up for failure and a great alternative is to set “intentions” instead. For example: you might set a goal to read a new book every month, which is great. But if you don’t finish your February book, it’s really easy to then give up on the goal and stop. However, if your intention is to read more, any reading you do is in alignment with that intention, and your reading can wax and wane with life’s demands without derailing you from your overall intention. So as you make your New Year’s resolutions, be intentional, but avoid setting goals that make those intentions easy to give up on.
Another tip on those new intentions - seek support. Share your intentions with those around you. They can help you remain accountable to yourself and stay on track. Whether it’s more time for yourself, more attention to your spouse or family, better fitness, or some other “big picture” resolution, sharing your intentions with others helps solidify them and can help you stick to them.
Finally, don’t be afraid to ask the Grand Architect of the Universe for what you want to accomplish. Speaking your desires into the world and seeking help from Deity is more powerful than most people are comfortable admitting. Blessings come from the divine every day, and we are worthy of asking for them.
I look forward to seeing you all at our installation on the 11th and starting this new year at Pentalpha Lodge!
