From The East February 2026

Brethern,
It is my honor to be the Worshipful Master of Pentalpha Lodge. I am so grateful to have been certified, elected and installed. I am the director of operations for a barbeque catering company named Smokey Glen Farm in Gaithersburg. I have pretty much worked there since I was a teenager. I have always been interested in Masonry but didn’t get started until my 50’s for many reasons. I have had a few relatives that were involved in Masonry, but none of them were around for my Masonic career. My uncle was a Mason in West Virginia, my great uncle in Pennsylvania and my great grandmother was in the Eastern Star (apparently her brother was a Mason). I was raised in 2019 and have jumped around the chairs until I became the Junior Warden in 2024.
Over the last month or so, I have talked to many of you and tried to contact many more of you to say hello, see how you are doing and see what your lodge can do for you and in some cases, what you can do for your lodge. It is my goal this year to get members more active. So, if you are local or just passing through town and haven’t been to lodge for a while, now is the time. If you have a skill or hobby that may be beneficial to the lodge or just something that you want to share, please contact me. In addition, I am still looking for people to do presentations at our meetings. Even though there is a lot of work to do, if we come together as brothers there is nothing that we cannot accomplish. You may hear one of my favorite sayings a few times this year. “Time, patience and perseverance accomplisheth all things.”
Sincerely and fraternally,
Ken Grundy
Worshipful Master
